Who are they?
The “Unnies” are an unofficial K-Pop girl group consisting of 7 members, ages ranging from 17-42. They worked as a team to debut as a girl group with two songs on their album. Their TV show, “Sister’s Slam Dunk” season 2 showcased their journey to becoming a “real” girl group. I watched it only because I saw two girls from groups that I liked that disbanded, but soon came to love the show. If you want to learn more about the Unnies click here.

Who are the members?
The members consist of: the dance goddess, leader, Minzy; the cute, bubbly, Somi; the creative, hardworking Yewon; the strong, hilarious, Sook; the Barbie Doll-like, visual, Chaeyoung; the clumsy, awkward, giraffe, Jinkyung; and the charming, trot goddess, Jinyoung.

Why do you like the song?
I love this song the jubilant, bouncy theme of the song fits their voices so well and the energy is contagious. The lyrics are catchy and easy to sing along to. The dance is the same, it makes you want to dance along.  The song itself is just mediocre, but the story behind it makes it 10x better. Their improvement throughout the show was amazing and it was great to see some conquer their fears, achieve something they’ve been wanting to do, bond with each other, and more.

‘Lonely‘ by 2NE1!

Who is 2NE1?
2NE1 was a 4-membered girl group that debuted in 2009 and disbanded in 2016. They were under YG Entertainment. Sadly, I only started listening to 2NE1 recently, and I didn’t get a chance to learn a lot about them. They are all amazingly talented and now most of them are promoting their solo careers. The members are: CL(Leader, Main Rapper, Lead Vocalist, Lead Dancer, and Face of the Group), Bom(Main Vocalist), Dara(Vocalist, Sub Rapper, and Visual), and Minzy(Main Dancer, Lead Vocalist, Lead Rapper, and Maknae(youngest)). What’s the song like?
The song is slower and more raw than anything they’ve done before. Their voices blend naturally and beautifully together. The chorus is super catchy and it’s wonderful to hear something different to the autotune/mechanical sound they were going for before. I love all of their vocals and how there isn’t a rap part which is unusual for a ballad-ish song like this one, but I think it’s better without. The song overall is great and I hope you’ll give it a listen.

This is a song about a girl who is with a guy but even with him she feels empty, so she feels apologetic. She feels that she is responsible for their break up and feels like she’s not deserving of being in love. This song is like a message to the guy she was with that he’s not to blame, it’s her. She thinks like she changed and believes like she hurt him and is remorseful. Their sentiments shine through with their voices and it’s a beautiful song. If you want to read the lyrics click here.

‘Getting Closer’ by Seventeen

What is the song like?
I really like this song because it has a sort of rock/hip-hop style mixed with a darker concept than they usually go for. This song is something new but old for them.  They have a similar song but with less rock involved called ‘Boom Boom’. I think for them a more cheery concept suits them, but I really like that they’re trying something new and I like the song.  Overall, it’s a great song and a cool new concept for them. Who is Seventeen?
So if you haven’t seen any of my past Seventeen posts, Seventeen is a 13-membered South Korean boy group from Pledis Entertainment.  They have two Chinese members and two American members.  They have 3 units, the Vocal Unit, the Hip-Hop Unit, the Performance Unit. Common Question: Why is their name “Seventeen” when they only have 13 members? Answer: They have 13 members + 3 units + they are 1 team = 17. Another answer: Before debut, they had 17 members but 4 left and they made up the answer mentioned above.
